A Regional Response to Climate Change
Climate Wise is a collaborative initiative of the Cities of Canning, Cockburn, Fremantle and Rockingham, the Towns of East Fremantle and Kwinana at the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council to help the community respond to climate change. The project focuses on households, small to medium size businesses and light industries and provides advice to reduce their energy use, water use, and improve waste recycling through sustainable and innovative practices and technology.
Our project approach is to seek effective partnerships with universities, associations and government, research community needs and opinions, develop and pilot programs that can deliver a practical and valued service and measure the project’s effectiveness.
Our Expertise
The Climate Wise team comprises of a group of professionals trained in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and experienced in:
- Energy, water and waste reduction through behavioral change
- Energy review service in schools and community buildings
- Feasibility study of Renewable Energy Technologies
- Delivery, guest presenting and development support of Living Smart courses
- Climate Change Risk Management
- Greenhouse and Energy Reporting
- Carbon Footprint Verification
The SMRC
Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) is a
statutory local government authority established by
7 local Councils in the southern part of metropolitan
Perth. It is responsible for developing environmentally
sustainable waste management solutions and climate
change abatement measures for the communities
of SMRC region. The strategic focus areas and
environmental goals of the SMRC are:
- Resource Recovery
- Greenhouse Gas Abatement
- Community
- Organisational Excellence
