Local Adaptation Pathways Program
The project
This program is aimed to identify the risks for the Climate Wise member Councils associated with the climate change and implement a risk management process. This would cover Councils’ major operation areas including planning and development, management of natural resources, and health and environment. It would also develop an adaptation plan which would detail the most plausible risks and develop treatment plans to suit Councils’ decision making process.
The program will be implemented in the member Councils - Cities of Canning, Cockburn, Fremantle and Rockingham and Towns of East Fremantle and Kwinana.
The program is supported by the Federal Government’s Department of Climate Change.
Risk Assessment Workshop
The Climate Change Risk Assessment Workshop of the LAPP project held on 18 November 2008 at Cockburn Wetland Education Centre. The full day workshop was attended by about 20 officers from six participating Councils and SMRC. The workshop helped identify the risks for the local governments associated with Climate Change. Workshop was facilitated by GHD Pty Ltd. The outcome of the workshop will be available soon.
