Home Energy Assessment Toolkit
Households now are able to do their own home energy assessment themselves without needing any expert coming to their homes. A home energy assessment toolkit is now available at your local library, which you can borrow
and conduct your Do-It-Yourself home energy assessment. These toolkits have been developed together by your council and SMRC’s ClimateWise team and have been placed in your libraries. The toolkit will help you improve energy efficiency and thermal performance of your home. The toolkit is easy to use and contains:
- PowerMate Lite for measuring instantaneous power use of appliances as well as monitoring electricity use over 24 hours of the fridge-freezer;
- Infrared thermometer for checking insulation uniformity and leaks around windows and doors;
- Compass to identify building orientation;
- Timer for checking shower length or measuring the shower flow;
Outdoor temperature window thermometer and indoor thermometer to help track effectiveness of the house to hold temperature overnight and receive cross-flow ventilation;
- A self-guided home energy assessment manual; and
